Meet Patrick McNamara. Patrick is a consultant, researcher and social entrepreneur focusing
on leadership, organizational effectiveness and large-scale change. He currently coordinates
the Gay Spirit Culture Project, a project designed to shift the consciousness of the gay and
queer communities by supporting inner transformation. He is the Co-Founder of the Spiritual
Caucus at the United Nations and Co-Owner of Appreciative Inquiry Consulting and has helped
create a series of conferences on spirituality in the workplace.
Patrick began his spiritual journey on a light blue Schwinn bicycle at the ripe ol' age of
fifteen when he saw a sign at the public library announcing a meditation course. Ever since,
the silence and peace he encountered while meditating has infused his work and purpose here
on Planet Earth.
He went on to receive his MBA from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University, and began
his career in corporate consulting with organizations such as Motorola, The Mac Group and
Cap Gemini. Soon his international inclinations and proficiency in several languages led him
into marketing and strategic planning in Europe, South America, Asia and the United States.
Despite these external demands, Patrick did not neglect his inner life. During these years,
Patrick lived in spiritual communities in Findhorn, Scotland, in Santa Fe and in New York
State. His personal process in community and meditation helped him understand and develop
his interior. Patrick then used his interior to facilitate spiritual and social
transformation in the work place.
Patrick facilitates personal and collective growth in organizational culture using Corporate
Transformation Tools, dialogue, organizational learning, and values-based leadership. He
helps organizations to clarify their vision and establish strategic direction with
innovative, participatory processes such as Appreciative Inquiry and Open Space Technology.
He lives in Fredonia, NY, where he enjoys spending time with his sixteen year-old daughter
(Patrick is a single father), meditation, choral singing, and time in nature. Planet Earth
needs more men like Patrick.
